Kids grow too fast. I think most moms can agree. My preemie daughter is no exception. She recently went up to 2t, which is exciting, but we had a problem. We LOST the 2t bin of clothes from her sisters during the move. Who knows, we may find it in storage at some point, but we need it NOW so that is not an option. And that is how Baby Deborah Tee was born.
I used KnitPicks new summer yarn, Samia, which is a cupro/silk blend. It is SO SOFT and so… well… silky. The drap is beautiful. I would not recommend using metals needles if you aren’t familiar with slippery yarns because it will slide right off. But that is also what makes it a dream to work with. It flies right off the needles. I was able to work up this little raglan sweater so quickly and mine is flying right off the needles too (so stay tuned for Adult Deborah Tee coming soon!) The only downside is that it does split easily so you do have to pay close attention while knitting. But with how lovely Samia knits up, that’s not enough to keep me from buying it over and over.
I wanted an easy to wear sweater so crew neck raglan was the obvious choice. Placing the eyelet lace however, that took me 9 times of trying and frogging, trying and frogging, trying and frogging, repeatedly before I figured out exactly how I wanted to use the lace. Once I got the placement right I feel so deeply in love and couldn’t put it down. I adore the panel down the back. It’s such a pretty surprise. You see the simple and comfortable front then when you turn around BAM! There is this pretty, feminine touch to make it unique and special.
