Making my kid’s sweater dreams come true has become my new favorite thing. Noah Sweater is one of those designs that was a special request from one of my kids.

My 6th kiddo requested a rainbow sweater, but he didn’t have any specifics outside of the exact colors he wanted used. I added the silver though, because when I think rainbow I think rain clouds too. It’s the most natural contrast color. I chose to go with Knitpicks Mighty Stitch because it is so kid friendly and has the perfect colors.

I thought long and hard about how to go about making the rainbow and then one night I had a dream about my kiddo wearing his sweater and it used a 1×1 stripe. The second I woke up I started typing up the pattern because I loved the way it looked in my dream. It also gave me the perfect opportunity to learn how to do helical stripes. I have always loved how jogless helical stripes are but had never had a reason to try them… until Youth Noah Sweater! Any opportunity to add to my technical bag of tricks is a good project. Do you have to use helical knitting for Youth Noah Sweater? No. But it will make your stripes jogless (no visible beginning of round) so it’s a great option.
